Mountbatten

I never got to know Mountbatten as well as I did New Zepler, but I shall miss it. When I first heard the news, I imagined the portrait of Eric Zepler with smoke swirling around it, but when I saw the remains of the blackened shell that was Mountbatten near to the still mainly white New Zepler, that was when I felt sad.

Yup, 'tis a sad week for $50 million worth of optoelectronics.
For the sake of photograph material, I've been told that the view from the top floor of the Maths building is pretty good - a bunch of us from Physics are going to head up there tomorrow lunchtime and see what it's like.

Hi Jodi! Sorry I've been so quiet, but I've had so much to do, and I've been in the United States for the last week or two (coming back on Thursday, and writing this by a swimming pool at night. I can hear crickets chirping. It's almost exotic). On the bright side, you're getting a postcard.

I just heard about the fire (hotel internet has been down for a few days, and I have just been told it was the access point, hence my pool-side location) - did you get a good view?!
