Slovenia - 4th June 2005

It was on the demure blue-green lake that the crowd of flies hovered, the flickering of their rippled reflections invoking a frenzy of mass motion. As the light dimmed, the lilypads began to resemble sequins.

Cute cygnets wandered around the edge of Lake Bled near to a sign indicating that harrassing swans is a criminal offence.

Situated on the lake was an island (Blejski Otok), with bells ringing loudly at the Church of the Assumption.

A triangle-shaped hole had been carved into a tree stump and if you looked through it, a red and white castle (Blejski Grad) could be seen on a steep cliff, crammed amongst the trees.

My holiday in Slovenia had begun and the weather was fine.

Wah! I want to go there! I've been planning it for ages but I've no time to go there this Summer. It's supposed to be so pretty at this time of year. Waaaaaaaaaah!

How're you doing? I've just moved. Still not unpacked properly yet. Didn't mean to bail the city without saying goodbye properly. I'll have to come visit sometime.

It was actually pink fur, but it wouldn't stay on, hence the tentacles to hold it in place. I was procrastinating from packing as opposed to really pretending to be a Furry.

Indeed you must visit sometime! Crash space always available.

Say "hi" to Douglas Coupland for me. ;) His book City of Glass might be worth a look - it has some random information about Vancouver in it and descriptions such as, 'The sky in Vancouver has its own distinct tinge, just like London or Los Angeles - a milky grey colour that melts onto the steel blue mountains.'
