In March, I tried to use up a lot of annual leave, but the weather in the UK was quite rainy, so I mostly just went to museums and galleries, and then spent a few days in Venice.

I enjoyed the Mike Nelson exhibition in the Hayward Gallery and wandering through lots of rooms.

I walked around the Whorled in the courtyard of Somerset House.

I danced on a grave. (Joseph Grimaldi's that plays sounds when you dance on it.)

I went to the Mithraem and listened to pots by Oliver Beer.

I visited the Danger Mouse plaque on the postbox.

I went to Gibbon's Rent and added a book to the Little Library.

I went to the former Matt's Gallery to see a room by Mike Nelson.

I visited the Museum of London Docklands.

I walked around the Thames Barrier Park.

I went to a demoscene meet up and drank mead in a craft beer place.

I went to [personal profile] sbp's birthday party.

I ate pancakes with Berny at My Old Dutch.

For Ingress Second Sunday, I did a banner along the canal with other players, ending at King's Cross.

I went on a tubewalk! The first I'd been on since the pandemic and we walked from Stepney Green to Whitechapel. We saw animals in the farm, the Neuron Pod, the Cable Street mural, and the Whitechapel Fatberg memorial manhole cover. Photos on Flickr: Tube walk 152.

I visited Wokingham and met a friend's baby and ate pizza and drank apple juice made from apples in their garden.

I looked at photos in the British Centre of Photography. I visited the Faraday Museum in the Royal Institution. I saw art at Spruth Magers and the Almine Rech gallery. I ate kimbap for the first time.

I walked through Brown Hart Gardens and sang quietly even though a sign forbids it.

I ate ice-cream in a former church, at the Mayfair Mercato Metropolitana.

I did the Ingress challenge MZPTK around Ravenscourt Park and Hammersmith and went to a pub with players afterwards and ate Thai food.

I visited my mum for Mother's Day.

I went to see the Magnificent Maps of London exhibition at the London Metropolitan Archives.

I took a trip in the JCB singing lift at the Southbank Centre and then saw the Poets in Vogue exhibition at the Poetry Library and stared at Sylvia Plath's skirt.

I visited the Florence Nightingale Museum. I walked across the Artist's Garden above Temple underground station and peered into greenhouses.

I saw Magdalena Abakanowicz’s Every tangle of thread and rope exhibition with [personal profile] doseybat at the Tate Modern.

I went to Venice for a few days! I got a boat from the airport and arrived in the dark and walked by the canal, lit by the moon, and I stared at the stars.

I enjoyed wandering through the streets and over bridges, eating ice-cream and pizza. I ate celery ice-cream! I caught the vaporetto (water bus) and went down the Grand Canal. I saw the Bookshitter statue and stood on the Bridge of Tits. I visited a bookshop that had books in a boat and climbed a staircase made of old books and admired the view of the canal from the top.

I caught the vaporetto to the small island of Mazzorbo and walked across to another island, Burano and enjoyed wandering in streets with brightly coloured buildings. I tried the local delicacy of bussolà biscuits and bussolà ice-cream there. I then caught the boat to another island, Torcello, and saw Attila's throne and danced on the devil's bridge.

I wanted to visit the beach after that, so caught a boat to Lido. Most of the beaches on Lido you have to pay for, but they seemed mostly closed. I walked to the free beach, which was open and sat on a tree trunk for a bit and walked across the sand and shells by the water.

I walked around St Mark's Square and stared at the basilica, and ate crema del doge ice-cream.

I saw Banksy's Migrant Child art.

I ate opera ice-cream

I liked crossing bridges and catching glimpses of the canals.

Ah I kind of missed you were in Venice. I'm glad you got to Torcello.
