Queuing in the hypermarket, the person in front of me purchased oversized cans of beer that resembled tins of dog-food. I went home and chewed on artichoke leaves and star-shaped pieces of carambola.

Whats one of those?

Picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carambola) of a Carambola. They look star-shaped when sliced, but not really before that. Sharon fruit is indeed strange!

I've never really thought about it but isn't a tin of dog food about the same capacity as a can of beer, just smaller and wider?

They looked like normal beer can height, but dog food width, it was confusing.
