I ate a níspero for the first time yesterday, which is an orange coloured fruit, also known as a loquat. Apparently, in Mexico, they are associated with the Day of the Dead and are placed on altars as offerings to the spirits of the deceased.

I also visited the Marylebone Elm, a Huntingdon elm tree on Marylebone High Street. It was tall and leafy.

I love nísperos! If it is the same fruit we have in Venezuela; I have never seen it here. It looks a little bit like a kiwi from outside but it is nothing like that inside. Where did you find that? :)

The ones I bought were the kind listed on the Wikipedia page for loquats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loquat

The sign for them said nispero though, but apparently nispero can also mean:
Common Medlar (Mespilus germanica)
Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota)
Manilkara huberi

So if yours looked like kiwi fruits, maybe they are sapodilla or Manilkara huberi?

I bought these ones from a stall near Victoria Station. I don't like to buy things there normally, as the area is heavily polluted, but I could not resist buying a fruit I had not tried before. :)

I think I saw the tallest tree in the UK, or England, or some big area, on Friday. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which one it was.
