Ingredients I had never used before: semolina and millet.

Family members worried that I would start chirping after eating millet: 1.

That sounds like some of the organic/vegetarian/vegan books my Mum used to cook from when we were children. Some recipes were lovely but others were gross. We had "Kidney Bean Bake" once, that my mother coined "African Mud" and hated so much she let us ceremonially flush it down the toilet. XD
