I remember eating there on the waterside when I was about 14.

I remember the place too - sat having a drink there last year when I was in th city.

Now, shall we explain to the nice people about Nyhavn's past and reputation?

While you're there you'll most likely see the little mermaid, yes? If you continue up the coast from that just ten or twenty metres or whatever they're something much, much better. It's a monument with an angel on it, the most beautiful thing I've seen.

I saw the Little Mermaid's back, but unfortunately didn't see the angel. :( Do you have pictures of it?

Yup... here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/northnorthwest/57022334/in/set-1235040/

Though that can't really do it justice.

Happy days, indeed! I just returned from another trip to Copenhagen (to which I hope one day to move). I stayed in Nyhavn, just across the bridge from the ice cream place (the Waffelbagern) I'm guessing you referenced earlier! The Hotel Bethel is my home base when I'm there.

A great time again. I hope to see the city in midwinter when my Danish is better and the city has fewer tourists...but, lord, it's such a lovely place, isn't it? The summers there are amazing.
