Balloons with Eyes and Books in Cages
Jul. 24th, 2006 01:53 pmA weekend actually spent in Southampton and nowhere but Southampton.
A weekend that started with the consumption of wine at the ECS summer party in the company of friends, some of whom wore grass skirts and leis.
On Saturday, I got lost in an invisible maze, saw a car covered with hay, saw installations that growled, books in cages and strange-looking people clad in white, holding balloons with eyes on them. All part of the Southampton Live/Fresh event apparently.
I visited the Dan Hays: Impressions of Colorado exhibition at the City Gallery on Sunday. Dan Hays found low quality photos of Colorado by another Dan Hays and reproduced the scenes, creating strangely pixelated paintings.
BBC Solent organised a poetry slam at the Orange Rooms on Sunday evening, where there was a mixture of rap and more traditional poetry, as well as cocktails.
