Buses that time-travel and buildings that resemble dominoes

I've been reading a lot of Russell Hoban books recently, especially when waiting at the bus-stop or travelling on the bus, but the U2 bus was not "unthinkably tall, made of yellow, orange and pink rice paper and bamboo, lit from within like a Japanese lantern." The U2 was a bus with a timetable that claimed it travelled in time, that it was a bus that got to Highfield Campus 19 minutes earlier than it left New College. I travelled on that particular bus a week or two ago and now keep wondering how much further in the future I am actually living.

Building 25 has five spots on it, painted as if it were a domino. Another side of the building might have two spots painted on it somewhere. If I find similar patterns on other buildings, I will suspect that someone is intending to create a domino rally out of the buildings at Highfield Campus.

The building with spots on sounds somehow familiar. But it's been nearly five years since I spent an afternoon getting lost in the highfield campus so I could be confusing it with something else.
