The prompt was "black on black" so I wrote some code to generate a random sentence and then create a cross-stitch pattern of morse code for that sentence. I then sewed the pattern with black thread onto black Aida fabric. The shades of black are closer to each other in real life than they look on the photo so it was a bit tricky to stitch!

What are you using for coding stuff like this? I was looking at making something to make knitting patterns out of binary ASCII codes, even if it is a bit manual, but got stuck at the point of converting a string of binary into a graphical knitting chart...

Coloured grid squares are about all I'm looking for too - this sort of general-purpose thing sounds worth a go! I've seen you mention Processing a bunch related to art things, just have never thought to take a look...
