What I did in July 2022
Aug. 30th, 2022 11:06 amI went to the top of the BT Tower and the floor rotated and I ate a cupcake and admired the views.
I walked around South Norwood Country Park and then caught a tram and did an Ingress banner in Croydon.
I read God Hates Japan by Douglas Coupland in Japanese via Google Translate for a book club.
I did an Ingress banner in Greenwich for Second Sunday and got a poem from the story vending machine in Canary Wharf.
I went to drinks in Whittington Park one evening.
I noticed many fish swimming in the Thames, and I also saw a great crested grebe one day.
I went to Victoria Park for a work fun day.
I walked around Downham and Chinbrook Meadows.
I walked around the Mayfair sculpture trail and then ate baked bean and mayonnaise ice-cream with Steelfusion and we had a drink in The Muse, and walked to Battersea, and past the Sir Clive Sinclair plaque
I walked around Richmond Park and there were signs saying to be vigilant as deer were raiding picnics in the area.
I left the UK for the first time since the pandemic and went to Germany for an Ingress event! This was amazing.
At an airport coffee shop, my name was misheard as "Jamie". The UK looked very brown from the sky. I arrived on Friday evening and checked into my hotel, and found I was staying in room 42.
I met up with some other Ingress players that evening and collected my lanyard. I walked past a futuro house, glowing, and watched people dancing nearby. I tried the Augustiner beer ice-cream that evening.
Saturday was the Anomaly, but before that started I started an Ingress banner by the New Town Hall and watched the figures on the Glockenspiel dance.
The Anomaly itself involved some intense staring at a phone and some running around.
After it ended, we went to a bar with sand and deckchairs and drank cocktails before going to the after party on Praterinsel.
Sunday was Mission Day, so I did some missions and then ate Prinzenrolle ice-cream and chocolate and peppers ice-cream.
I caught a tram and then met up with people in a big beer garden, and then after that, we went for cocktails made by robots! I'd seen the robots dancing as I walked past previously and had wanted to go there.
The other part of my Munich trip was in August.
