If anything anywhere went wrong, the hyper charged energy mints would be waiting, dusty, imitating red chalk. I would eat one or two, maybe a handful. If everything went right, which seemed unlikely, but was still possible, there would be no reward, no bursts of joy, but no need for the extra energy either that was required to deal with the comfort of failure.

Thanks! I am hoping my company will provide face-painters again, possibly on the plane to Miami, so that I can look like that when I turn up to the office there.

Thanks! It is indeed new - I think I was the oldest person to have their face painted at my company's family fun day. It was also the day that I kayaked.
