Monkey Island, Berkshire

The sign came into sight with the words "To Monkey Island", so I knew we were almost there. Earlier we had passed buildings with what looked like the head of Guybrush carved in stone on them. Earlier we had passed shops selling wooden ornaments which may have been carved into the shape of monkeys. Earlier we had seen old buildings, that looked like pirates might live in them. We continued onwards to see another sign, mainly covered with brambles that again said "Monkey Island". We adorned our eyepatches. At our destination, we found a rickety, slightly swaying footbridge covered in pretty pink ribbons, so we crossed the water. Finally, we were on Monkey Island, an island so small that from one side you could see pirate ships going past on the other side. A wedding was happening. For Dennis. It turns out that Guybrush has after all
these years changed his name. Violins were played and we sat on the bank under a tree, and noticed the 3-headed monkeys that take on the appearance of sleeping swans and small river-bank creatures. Then we wandered to an inn that had many signs saying "duck or grouse", and drank some grog.
