I just ate a petal. A fried petal. I've got this sort of happy twinge in the chest but I'm hoping the petal wasn't poisonous. It tasted like paper really, but sweeter. I looked at flowers, stared at them, and thought, no, I can't eat those, and then did, as if eating flowers was my greatest fear that I have conquered, and am now feeling some kind of relief. Or maybe I should worry about that gnawing inside, or shouldn't have sprinkled nutmeg on the petal, so that I got a complete pure petal taste. Will I eat more
petals? Possibly, I've heard they can be addictive, plus there's so many different varieties to try.

Date: 2003-05-01 11:35 am (UTC)Imagine the flavour of garden mint. Fresh, herbaceous, slightly resinous perhaps.
Imagine the flavour as it dries, adding woody notes.
Imagine this flavour infusing in hot water, the gradual increase in tannin as the liquor oxidises.
Imagine all this without the mint flavour. That's nettle tea.
