As a child fond of triangles, I wanted to be able to manufacture triangle-shaped items, such as cups, shoes, etc. Now, I have access to the most triangle-like letters, which I have decided are:
AKMNVWXYZ

Maybe-isms for triangles:

A NAVY YAK MAY YANK MY WAY WAVY YAM.

A WAN MYNA MAY AX A WAX MAW.

ANY ZANY MAN MAY YAWN.

No connections to triangles

*buys you A MANKY VAX*

I can't prove it, but I once received a letter from Stuart N Hardy myself.

From the mid-'80s to the mid-'90s I played quite a few games by mail, not least Quest (http://www.kjcgames.com/quest.htm) by KJC Games (http://www.kjcgames.com/). It was very geeky, but you don't need to apologise for being geeky on LiveJournal. Shortly after I stopped playing I received a letter from the aforementioned SNH offering to trade in-game information. It came as a surprise but a completely logical one - the Stuart would probably enjoy playing a game in which there is much advantage to be got from writing to other players and indeed might even make friends that way. I would date this as being 1995, +/- 1 year. Strangely (at least, strangely compared to what I'm minded to expect from other people who have written about him) it wasn't a hand-written letter - it was printed in the font of a not-very-expensive-looking dot matrix printer. I remember it used bold and italic fairly extensively, was extremely businesslike and contained no emotion whatsoever. I didn't write back.

I've just spent half an hour trying to dig it out and can't find it, which is a shame - it would have been rather fun to scan it and share it. (I can't even find any information from the game where we bumped into each other briefly.) No proof, but I hope you think it's plausible enough to believe.

Oh, and I found your LJ via [livejournal.com profile] verlaine, if you're interested.

Woah, I'm in total awe. A letter from Stuart N Hardy! I am planning to go to Sheffield on Stuart N Hardy Day, and find him. If I can find him, I shall ask him about Quest, and a whole range of other things, of course. Maybe I'll even take an autograph book for him to sign, just so I can get a sample of his handwriting.
