BT Tower

I stood at the top of the BT Tower during Open House London weekend, gazing at London, which looked beautiful from there, sipping coffee and eating cupcakes, being amazed at the view.

I wish the revolving restaurant atop the Post Office Tower was still open.

...And I hope that the cakes you ate weren't discovered there, abandoned since the place closed in 1979 and doomed to eternal youth by 1970's preservative technology. They would be valuable cultural relics.

It still revolves at least. I hope it reopens one day though.

I was greedy and ate a pink one and a yellow one. I should have saved them! Forever!

Coincidentally, I've been watching through old Doctor Who with my Lovefilm subscription and the latest one I watched was The War Machines, set in the GPO Tower where a SUPERCOMPUTER tries to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. The DVD had a couple of features on the Tower (including a 1960s Blue Peter episode instructing how to build your own one out of toilet rolls) and one lamenting that it wasn't a public building any more. The restaurant looked thoroughly awesome, I hope it reopens again too!
