Open House London
Aug. 12th, 2008 08:11 pmMy last weekend in London (September 20th and 21st) coincides with Open House London Weekend, so I'm hoping to see some cool buildings before I leave. Anyone else thinking of going, and if so, to what?
I've been to the Neasden Bunker twice before, but am thinking of going again. Anyone want to join me?

Date: 2008-08-25 08:47 pm (UTC)Dovecot? Old Coach House and Dovecot (http://www.londonopenhouse.org/london/find/detail.asp?loh_id=15121&postcode=HA5%203AL&period=buildings%20of%20any%20period&building=all%20types%20of%20buildings&wheelchair=&architect=&resident=&activities=&name=dove&greenbuild=&advanced=false).
Windmills? 4 windmills! (http://www.londonopenhouse.org/london/find/map.asp?name=windmill&postcode=postcode&building=all+types+of+buildings&architect=&borough=local+boroughs&period=buildings+of+any+period&advanced=false)
I'll actually have to look at my list of places from other years. It's a pity all the places I want to go are always so faraway from each other!

Date: 2008-08-14 01:29 pm (UTC)Just looking at what is closest to where we live- seems to be 30 Cholmeley Crescent and Highgate School Chapel & Big School. I tried typing in our postcode, but it strangely suggested St Giles Parish Church, Camberwell, which is apparently located in the middle of the sea, by the country of Ghana! I had no idea that counted as London.

Date: 2008-08-26 10:19 am (UTC)"Sat - 8.30am-5pm. Pre-book ONLY on 020 8782 4239 (Katy Bajina). Comprehensive tour given. Sensible footwear and clothing should be worn. Last entry 5pm."
It's near to Dollis Hill/Neasden. I'm probably going to allow an hour to get there and then 30 minutes to walk there, but I'm sure it doesn't actually take that long to get there really. (Or does it?)
The Stables (http://www.londonopenhouse.org/public/london/find/detail.asp?loh_id=14906&postcode=NW2%206HT&period=buildings%20of%20any%20period&building=all%20types%20of%20buildings&wheelchair=&architect=&resident=&activities=&name=stables&greenbuild=&advanced=false) is worth popping into on the way back. It's just some art in some old stables.
11 or 12 would be fine with me though, if you'd prefer to go at that time? Nick is planning to come up from Southampton, so I'd need to check with him too.
