5.45pm, The Bridge - The other members of creative writing society argue about films they have never seen and books they have never read. I ignore them and frantically tap out words about fog into my Psion.

6.10pm, The Stag's Head - obandsoller and I have retired to the union bar. I am sipping a rum and Diet Coke, when obandsoller points out the two people who are walking around in a rubber dinghy.

Soon, there is a guy dressed as a submarine ordering a drink at the bar and in the far corner of the room, there's someone dressed as a sailboat. Then more people dressed as boats appear and I wonder if the pub is pretending to be a dock.

Haha, a nautically-themed pub-crawl; I like it! Must've looked pretty awesome.

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of piece is it that you're writing about fog? Will it be a short story, a few paragraphs of description, a poem, or something else? Is it for a competition? Just wondered, that's all :)

Maybe they were studying ship science? It looked like they had all made quite an effort with their ship costumes.

I'm writing about fog for NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org) - National Novel Writing Month, basically trying to write 50,000 words in the month of November.

Yeah, it would make sense, wouldn't it. Although I kinda like the idea of entirely off-the-cuff themes. We ran a couple of fake beard-themed crawls a few years back; they were awesome. One of my friends turned up wearing Hula Hoop packets on his face; I constructed mine from plastic spoons and string.

And NaNoWriMo's a great idea! Good luck with it all... how many words have you got down so far?

NaNoWriMo, I am quite behind and only have about 28,000 words so far, so need to write quicker. Perhaps I should have more people wearing fake beards in my story, since it currently seems to be lacking in those.

Perhaps if I wear a fake beard while I write, it will improve my writing!
