Devil's Toenails and other Fossils

I found a lot of devil's toenails when I visited Marske. They are also called Gryphaea, and are a genus of extinct oyster. They may be around 200 million years old.

And even more fossils, including some belemnites, fossilised coral and a crinoid.



I can't seem to stop finding pottery sherds, so here are some sherds I picked up on the beaches, as well as some pretty stones and some glass:

You're doing so well with the fossils, gosh. The tumbled glass is always a favourite of mine, too, I think you'll be able to do some lovely art with it, if you're so inclined. Mudlark mosaics.

There were so many fossils! I had to stop myself from picking up more and dragging them back to London.

How did you know I had finished my mosaic? :) Maybe glass next, yes!
