What I did in April 2020
May. 3rd, 2020 09:52 pmI mostly just went to virtual events.
I went to Now Play This! I watched House House, who created Untitled Goose Game, interviewed inside Animal Crossing. I watched the Half Life virtual field trip, which was quite fun, although people did keep dying in the lift, which made it a bit of a dangerous tour. I played DUSTNET with the devs and wandered around looking at what people were creating and reading signs. I watched a photography tour of No Man's Sky and enjoyed seeing the photos people took. I played some of the games linked from the Now Play This website: AI Dungeon 2, Lichenia, Nova Alea, Oolith, Red Desert Render, Sigil, The indifferent wonder of an edible place, Triforce: the topologies of Zelda. I also watched some of the videos of The Call Trilogy. I did at times wish I was at the real life Now Play This event at Somerset House with friends, but I was glad there were still events happening.
I continued doing Zombies 5K and running around Marble Hill Park three times a week.
I walked through Orleans House gardens and listened to the parakeets and walked through a lot of cow parsley, which looked beautiful.
I finished Life is Strange, which I enjoyed even though it was disturbing at times. I still have the prequel and Life is Strange 2 to play sometime.
I danced at virtual Slimelight.
I did a video chat with family.
I went to Red's birthday party via Zoom and people were wearing red, and there was a dancing postbox!
I went to a virtual Ingress meet one Thursday night.
I walked around the block and admired blossom and flowers in people's gardens and sunshine, and ahh, I didn't want to go back inside, but walking further makes me anxious, as there are too many people about.
One Saturday, I went to virtual clubs Exit the Grey and Slimelight.
I watched Fleabag at the National Theatre.
I watched demos at the Revision demo party. Amiga demos! I've not been to the Revision demo party in real life, but maybe one day!
I got a Nintendo Switch and started playing Animal Crossing!
I decorated my flat with EL wire so that it glowed.
I finished reading Twenty thousand leagues under the sea.
I ate a pineberry for the first time!
I did an Animal Crossing related cross-stitch, of a gyroid.
I visited Obandsoller's island in Animal Crossing and admired the flowers and had fun jumping around.
One evening, I watched Andrew O'Neill live via Zoom.
I watched some of the talks at the Music Hackspace on Making music from the data universe.
I went to another virtual Ingress meet.
I went to Maraoke and sung songs with the lyrics changed to be about video games.
I went to a crafting session on Zoom, organised by Jacqui and did some cross-stitch while staring at people's faces.
I went to a UXPA (User Experience Professionals Association) event.
One Friday night, I went to a virtual club night, The light pours out of me.
I went to a Blockdown Party! This was a celebration of Teletext, with Teletext celebrities, some great Teletext art and I even attempted making my own! Spent most of the day watching this on Twitch / YouTube and chatting on Discord and Twitter to people that were also watching. Here is the page I created: https://zxnet.co.uk/teletext/viewer/?c=3&p=268
