While clearing out the cupboard next to my gas meter, I found meter cards that date back to the 1940s:







I wonder who lived in my flat then, 70 years ago now.

Street directories such as Kelly's (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly%27s_Directory) would at that time have contained lists of addresses along with the head of each household. Here (http://www.plimsoll.org/Southampton/streetdirectories/) are some for Southampton, for instance.
