At a service station on Saturday, I saw a car number plate that said, "ELF". I saw no humans exit or enter that car.

I strolled across the red sand at Preston Sands, towards the grey sea in the fading light, and stared out for a while, smiling.

On Sunday, I travelled down the clifftop to the beach on the funicular, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway.

Above Oddicombe beach stood only half a house. Part of the sea was red beneath that (although not as red as in April: BBC news: Landslip at Oddicombe beach turns sea red.)

A rainbow appeared above the sea, and shortly after that, walking by the side of the beach, I passed a trickling waterfall. Such a pretty world!

To get to Ness Cove, I walked down the smuggler's tunnel, which was a bit eerie, with the sound of howling, but at the end of the tunnel, I found the sea, and wandered on the beach. After that, I walked down to Shaldon, past what looked like a large metal joystick on the beach, and looked across at the Teignmouth Pier. It was only when I got back to the car park that I found out that in Shaldon there is apparently a witch's cave.

I walked across the beach at Maidencombe, leaving footprints as I watched the rough sea. I was the only person on that beach at that time.

I thought about when I was 4 years old and on holiday in Jersey and walking on a beach then, much like now. My dad told me I was the first person to walk on that beach. It was like that, fresh sand and I was the first person to walk on the beach.
