The Italian Alps changed my breathing, but I'm not sure if that's because I was up high or because they were awe-inspiring :)

Relatively nearby (like, compared to the Andes or somewhere), and gorgeous. Especially when covered in snow.

ryanair.com to Milan isn't too expensive...
