Mountains

When August started, I was in Munich. I did an Ingress banner with some other players and ate strawberry and basil ice-cream, and we sat in the beer garden in the market.

Then the next day I caught trains and buses to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, south of Munich, by the mountains. It was lovely being amongst the mountains.

I took the cable car up to Alpspitze and ate apple strudel up there while admiring the views.

Back in Garmisch-Partenkirchen I walked around the Michael-Ende-Kurpark which had a unicorn, a giant turtle, poisonous plants, rock biters, and other fantastical elements to it. I ate Pino Pinguino ice-cream. I watched the sky turn pink amongst the mountains that evening.

I visited Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany, and saw glaciers. I rode the cogwheel railway that day. I also walked around Eibsee, which was a beautiful lake and black butterflies (Scotch Argus) fluttered around me. It was hot that day and I wished I had my swimming costume with me as many people were swimming in the lake. I ate cactus fig ice-cream that evening.

On my last day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, I headed to Wank. Unfortunately the cable car was closed, so I decided to walk up the mountain. I passed a waterfall and got as far as Tannenhutte and ate a slice of delicious apple cake and drank a glass of rhubarb drink.

Back in Munich, I ate vegan marzipan and poppyseed ice-cream and did a short Ingress banner.

Back in London, [personal profile] doseybat and I went to see Sculpture in the City. I laid on top of a giant sandwich.

My brother turned 40 and we celebrated in the village and ate lunch with family.

I went to the Arcade Club in Bury and played various games, saw a friend’s amazing projects, visited Smithy Bridge and walked around the lake. I walked around Hollingworth Lake and made a magical rock which plays sounds of the lake when you touch it.

I did an Ingress banner in Manchester for Second Sunday with a local Ingress player.

One evening I ate achta and turmeric flavoured ice-creams and watched noodles rise up and down at a restaurant with a friend.

One Friday evening, I ate soya sauce and golden syrup flavoured ice-creams, browsed books in Foyles and shopped in the Japan Centre. I ate Happy Sticks in Trafalgar Square.

One Saturday, when there was a train strike, I visited the Eel Pie Island Museum and found out about the interesting history of the island. I also visited the Orleans House Gallery.

I swam in the Serpentine Lido one Sunday morning and it was glorious swimming amongst swans and Canada geese. I visited the Serpentine Pavilion and the Serpentine Galleries after that and saw an exhibition with some aliens. I also did an Ingress banner around Paddington Basin and stared at the reflections in the water. I found a tiny library and sat down and read a children’s book by Russell Hoban.

On the bank holiday weekend, I visited Eynsford and then Folkestone and swam in the sea there and walked on the beach.

I visited Marble Hill House one lunchtime, having not visited since it reopened.

I did another random walk dice roll cross-stitch and a Langton’s Ant cross-stitch.
