What I did in April 2021
May. 2nd, 2021 08:19 pmI went to the Science Museum and got vaccinated! It was the closest vaccination centre with next day slots available, so I went with that one.
I saw the sea for the first time since September! I visited Folkestone and Hastings, and it was so good to see the sea.
I attended the Douglas Coupland and the Art of the ‘Extreme Present’ conference and listened to talks about Douglas Coupland as well as an interview with him.
I went for a walk in central London for the first time since October. It was amazing! The sky was ever such a bright blue and the sun shone and the buildings sparkled and oh, I walked past sewer lamps and carved stone heads and ahh, London. I walked from Waterloo to Blackfriars and then up to St Paul's through the back streets, and then by the river and across some bridges, and past the London Eye, and ended up in Vauxhall.
I ate psychedelic purple carrot cake, burnt butter caramel, and red velvet cheesecake flavour nitro ice-creams.
I enjoyed listening to
asw909,
pinkdaisy and Kynon’s DJ sets at A Certain Shade of Green.
I attended Ingress stay at home First Saturday in Cardiff and helped solve the passcode challenge.
I walked in woods that felt magical, with bluebells and wood anemones and violets.
I watched demos at the Revision demo party.
One Sunday, I got a train to Waterloo and walked to Chinatown and played Ingress there and went ahh, I am in central London again, wooh! There are still restaurants and cafes and those red lanterns and the colourful gates in Chinatown, ahh. Did not stop for taiyaki, dessert soup, matcha ice-cream, nor bubble tea, but it was still nice to be there. I walked through Leicester Square and saw Mary Poppins and then to Trafalgar Square and the melting ice-cream is still on the Fourth Plinth.
I watched some of the Walking Festival of Sound, people walking through Edinburgh and Kraków, and listened to the sounds.
I drank takeaway coffee. This is noteworthy as I hadn’t had any since sometime last year, possibly October.
I went to a Burning Nest online meeting.
I played games such as Scattergories and Codenames with friends.
It snowed briefly, so I went outside to enjoy the snowflakes falling.
I listened to Wiretapper's latest audio experience: Safe.. in the comfort of your home.
I made some collages.
I watched Maraoke on Twitch.
One Sunday I walked from Waterloo to Parliament Square and then to Vauxhall and then to Kennington, playing Ingress and I walked past the Imperial War Museum, where I stared at a piece of the Berlin Wall. I also stared up at gas holders and tall buildings.
I sewed conductive thread into an old jacket and attached it to a Touch Board. When you touch the old jacket, sounds of me putting on other jackets can be heard. Video on Flickr: Other jackets
I used the accelerometer on oscHook, so that when I tip my phone up, different notes are played in Max. Video on Flickr: oscHook + Max.
