What I did in February 2021
Mar. 2nd, 2021 08:32 pmI continued learning to make automata and attended Cabaret Mechanical Theatre's automata tinkering workshop.
I helped organise a Stay at Home Ingress First Saturday, with the Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus as the base portal. 120 people attended!
I ate a purple cauliflower for the first time!
I made an automata, "Lightbulb Moment", that is controlled by a motor connected to an Arduino, and it then connects by Bluetooth to an EEG headset. When your attention levels are high, the lightbulb raises.
I learnt to use the pegboard kit for making automata and made a snake slither and a bird go round and round, and a shark lurch from the sea.
I enjoyed listening to automata artists talk and give tours of their workshops and discuss their work.
I made an automata with a creature that moves its wings and I like to imagine that I accidentally purchased this creature from the vending machine in the background and it flew out of there.
I bleached my hair and it went light pink and then I dyed it green!
It snowed again and I wandered around in the snow in Marble Hill Park.
When the green washed out of my hair, I dyed my hair blue.
I tried playing with sound with an automata. The automata hits a tin with a stick and paperclips.
I played games such as Scattergories, Codenames, etc, with friends.
I joined a cult while playing Sagebrush with
hovis.
I went to Crafternoon with
jacquic and friends.
I made a robot friend automaton who stands at 147cm tall! I wanted to try out scaling up automata, so this was made with poles from a long since abandoned gazebo and cardboard boxes.
I watched the Mars landing!
I watched many Japanese films as part of the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme: The Shape of Red, Miyamoto, Hello World, Me & My Brother's Mistress, Haruka's Pottery, Mrs Noisy, One Night, Samurai Shifters, 30 Minute Sessions, Not Quite Dead Yet, Extro. I also watched talks on The Place of Japanese Cinema in the UK and The Place of Japanese Independent Films.
I started doing another sound art class at CityLit - Sonic Arts 2: Interactive Projects. We played with altering drone sounds.
I got older!
For my birthday, I had a seven course vegan meal! I tried faux gras terrine for the first time.
I got a Bare Conductive Touch Board and played with that.
Near the end of February, I got on a train for the first time since the start of January, and went to visit my mum, who I am in a support bubble with. It was the first time I had seen anyone that I know since January 3rd! Also the first person I had spoken to in real life since January 3rd! It was amazing!
I walked across fields and in woods. I saw the full moon, the snow moon, and it was bright.
I watched Maraoke on Twitch and sung along to songs with the words changed to be about video games.
I saw a pretty sunset one evening.
hovis and I played Pixel Fireplace and imagined sitting around a fire, and we also played Friary Road and imagined sitting on a roof, looking at stars.
I walked around Richmond Park and saw a bunker, and walked to Ham and saw many crocuses.
Most weeks I ran 3 times a week, through the snow and through the rain, to the river and to the occasional postbox.
