What I did in January 2021

England was locked down again, so mostly I did inside things.

I started doing a class on making automata.

I attended Winter BarCamp Manchester and gave a talk on Designing a Mind-Controlled Kaleidoscope.

I did two immersive audio experiences: Swimming Home and Darkfield's Eternal. Eternal took place in bed and had very creepy sounds, so it felt like someone was whispering in my ear and someone was tapping on my window. Swimming at home took place in the bathroom and involved wearing a swimming costume.

I attended Ingress First Saturday at home, in virtual Ely, and helped solved the passcode.

I played games with friends, such as Scattergories, Spyfall, Boggle and Codenames.

glyn and I played Jaipur.

I started doing a course on Coursera on Modern Art & Ideas.

I went to Crafternoon organised by jacquic and worked on a door with a cat door-knocker that you knock on and then when opened, sounds are played. I also worked on my automata.

hovis and I played Little Party and Samorost 3.

I ate a lemon drizzle Kit Kat and a winter spice Twix.

I played The Stanley Parable.

I watched Maraoke on Twitch and sung along to songs from home.

I started running again, mostly just along the river, looking for seals.

On New Year's Day, I wandered around the castle.

It snowed! Actual proper snow! As soon as I saw it was snowing, I headed outside and went for a walk around the park in the snow and oh, it was so beautiful, listening to the snow crunching beneath my feet, looking up at the snow as it was falling, seeing my footprints in the snow, everything becoming covered in snow.
