Lunchtime

Jan. 7th, 2011 03:18 pm
Today's lunchtime wandering in the drizzle led me to Highfield Avenue, where I saw a palm tree, and thought about a different Highfield Avenue in a different town (Southampton).

On a different road, just around the corner, I peered behind little doors that are not normally open. Behind the first set of doors, I could only see bricks, but the second set of open doors had already been flung open and revealed many colourful cables.

Most lunchtimes, I end up in the Wildlife Corridor or in the meadow or orchard, but it is muddy now and the apples are rotten and the butterflies are gone, so I am trying to extend the paths I wander. I take detours up roads I have never been up, and suddenly there feels like more to see in the world, even though most of the time I end up staring into puddles, and watch the reflected world.
