Rose

I received a flower from the inside of a borrowed book. A rose, crushed and crumpled amongst the words. I am not enjoying the book that much, but the flower was freshly pressed, the fragrance sweet and lingering on the pages. I wondered why it was there, until I read enough of the book to know the main character is mourning for someone she has lost: Rose.
