Lakes

Oct. 9th, 2004 12:26 am
The Königssee near to Berchtesgaden, Germany, was a pale yet superbly emerald coloured lake. Fallen leaves and ducks decorated the edges and in the middle was a small island that only a statue seemed to inhabit. The lake looked beautiful and the colour was not a murky sinister green, nor an algae filled bobbly green, but a serene and almost tropical green.

The other memorable lake was the Schwarzsee at Kitzbühel, Austria. Apparently, the lake is so black because underneath the lake is a forest. It ended up there after a dispute over land. I suspect that when I go near lakes in future and I notice that they look just a little bit darker than expected, I'll be staring deep into the water, wondering how many trees are growing beneath the surface.
