What does Douglas Coupland... do... at one of these... things? Rock stars go to gigs to sing, maybe he's going to be writing at this gig? Or is he a comedian as well and I'm being silly? :)

His books are a bit of a mixed bag but I hear that he's an entertaining speaker.

Hmm, maybe, the new book sounds interesting from the description. Perhaps I should pick it up when it comes out (early October) and make a decision after reading it, probably a day or two before the event. Or is it likely to be too late for tickets by that point ? I'm trying to remember from the other stuff I've read whether he can really write girls, some of the authors I like can't do that, which is OK so long as they don't try (Greg Egan often doesn't even try to write humans).
